DMCA & Copyright
How to file a copyright takedown with GeneratorNickname: what to include, how long it takes, and how to counter.
If you believe content on GeneratorNickname infringes your intellectual property, send a takedown request to [email protected] containing the six items listed below. We act on valid requests within 1–3 business days. Updated 25 August 2026.
First: Unicode characters are not copyrightable
Most complaints we receive rest on a misunderstanding: Unicode characters and symbols belong to nobody. They are a public international standard, like the letter A or a full stop — no one can register copyright in them.
What can be protected is articles, images, video, logos, brand names, layout and source code. If your claim falls into that group, use the format below.
What a takedown notice must contain
- Who you are — full name, organisation if any, an email address and a phone number we can reach.
- Whether you are the rights holder or an agent — if an agent, say who you act for.
- The original work — a description and a link to the original, with its publication date.
- The infringing material — the exact URL on our site. The more specific, the faster this goes.
- A good-faith statement — that you believe the use is not authorised by the owner, an agent, or the law.
- A statement of accuracy — that the information is correct and you accept responsibility for a false claim.
How we handle it
| Step | What happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | We acknowledge your message | Within 1 business day |
| 2 | We compare the original against the material complained of | 1–3 business days |
| 3 | We remove or replace the material if the claim is valid | Immediately after step 2 |
| 4 | We write back with the outcome | Same day as step 3 |
Where material is clearly infringing — an image, a paragraph or a video copied wholesale — we remove first and discuss afterwards. We do not hold on to something that is not ours in order to negotiate.
If your content was removed in error
If something you contributed was taken down and you believe that was wrong, write to [email protected] with the removed URL, why you believe you had the right to use it, and your contact details. We will review and restore it if the original claim had no basis.
If our content is copied elsewhere
The articles, layout and source code of GeneratorNickname are ours. If you find a site republishing our material wholesale, sending the URL to [email protected] genuinely helps. If you only want to quote a short passage with a link back, go ahead — no permission needed.
